It’s a brand new year and 2023 is shaping up to be a very exciting one for Brave Island! With lots of projects in the pipeline and new opportunities on the horizon, we’re looking forward to hosting more exciting experiences than ever. But what does the new year have in store for you? We had a chat with a few local creatives about their hopes and plans for 2023…
Jayden Hitchcock, EarsPeeled
What does 2023 have in store for you?
2023 definitely has big shoes to fill, I’m hoping that as well as lots of live shows from various up and coming artists to fuel the Island’s music scene, that EarsPeeled can really up its ‘behind the scenes’ game. Whether that’ll be focusing on recording, managing, or even bridging the Isle of Wight and the scary unknown, we want to be behind the making of some great music, and will do our best to support (IOW) artists in whichever way possible.
We’ve got so many great shows planned for this year, and although you may not of heard of the artist playing and are wondering whether it’s worth a tenner, please do trust us. There’s a reason we’re putting it on!
What’s your New Year’s resolution?
Have more time for friends, take my Grandma out for Thai food.
Lily Hutchings, Lil Bette
What does 2023 have in store for you?
2023 is bringing so many more drops, designs and different medias. Intertwining lots of past and present Lil Bette to bring it into one ‘Mega Bette’. We’re also looking forward to some collaborations with other local artists, and hopefully feature in a shop or two?!
What’s your New Year’s Resolution?
Get my vicious Jack Russell to wear the coat she got for Christmas at least once.
Fox Rawding, Froglands PK
What does 2023 have in store for you?
If Froglands PK was a shrub, 2022 was the year our little hairy roots wriggled their way into the soil, dodging rogue pebbles and inquisitive moles to find nutritious musical minerals. The last few months saw those minerals absorbed to fuel the growth of some promising looking buds – and if mine and my partner Max Perry’s calculations are correct – 2023 will see the first frog flowers blooming, in magical shades of streamable music and UK gigs. But, we could both get hit by a bus tomorrow. So no promises.
What’s your New Year’s resolution?
My New Year’s resolution is to get body modification surgery to become a Na’vi from James Cameron’s Avatar series. Max’s resolution is to make a piece of furniture.
Romy Battista, Romy Helen
What does 2023 have in store for you?
I know for a fact that 2023 will have a lot of self doubt and fear. But that doesn’t mean these things will stop me from recording music, headlining a show, and performing at a couple of festivals! Merchandise ideas may have weaseled their way into my sketchbook, and I cannot wait to see them real. I have started the year off with moving house and a driving test so I think that’s a pretty chaotic month, and I want chaos and business 24/7 this year.
What’s your New Years resolution?
To get to grips with how my brain works after an ADHD diagnosis two years ago, i’m adamant it’ll benefit my down days.
