Do you have a show you want to take on tour? Maybe you’re part of a local theatre company with ambitions of performing off the Island? We’ve teamed up with the IW Creative Network to open up their upcoming tour booking workshop to Brave Island members.
The workshop will focus on touring logistics, budgets, production values, transport, marketing, technical staffing, venue expectations and much more, giving you a confident start in the process of getting your show on the road. You’ll be joined by a member of the Brave Island team, so don’t worry if this is the first time you’ll attend something like this!
This workshop is led by Mark Makin of ‘makin projects‘. Mark works with outstanding theatre, dance and comedy companies of all scales who produce their own work, ‘makin projects’ handle the national and international tour booking for these companies along with co-producing several new touring productions each season. Mark also works on the groundbreaking initiative ‘house‘, a theatre network set up to link shows with venues.
Following the workshop, you have the option to join the theatre networking event joined by Ginny Graham, the theatre Relationship Manager for Arts Council England South West. Ginny will present an introduction to Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants and Developing Your Creative Practice fund, including what it is and how to apply. There’ll be plenty of time for questions and to network with other theatre makers, but it’s completely optional.
Practical Information: The event will be taking place at Apollo Theatre, in Newport. To sign up, please tell us why you would like to take part.
Opportunity Date & Time: Tuesday 23rd January, 12.15pm – 5.30pm.
