Join Gary Wallis for a conversation about how he has built his career as a freelance photographer for over 30 years, working mainly in fashion and portraiture. He has shot for magazines around the world including Japanese Vogue, Dutch Elle, British Marie Claire, The Independent Magazine, Evening Standard, Dazed and Confused, Swedish Slitz Magazine and lots more. His commercial clients have included Topman, Motorola, Lloyds and Harper Collins.
He is probably most well known for his archive work with Alexander McQueen early in both their careers. Published in McQueen – Backstage the early shows book, featured in numerous publications, exhibited around the world and featured on screen in McQueen, the feature documentary, BBC’s Life in 10 Pictures: McQueen documentary and many more.
Gary has also taught photography at leading UK Art College Central Saint Martins for 30 years and is now Subject Leader in Lens Practice for the Graphic Communication Design Degree Program.
