Interview: March’s Young Creatives of the Month

Every month Brave Island runs a Young Creative of the Month fund, where we spotlight a local young creative with an interview on our blog, and support them with funding of £100. For March, its not just one creative but entire band, The Lords! This fund launches at the beginning of every month, you can apply to be Young Creative of the Month for April here.

Please tell us about your creative practice.
Well, we are a young band hoping to grow on the island as well as off the island, we have been a band since we were 12/13 but started taking things more seriously in 2025 as we got to experience what it would be to be committed on a stage at the isle of wight festival, we make music from our hearts and whatever topics we feel like are important to talk about, but more importantly what the power of a random jam session has (how most of our songs are made).

Who or what are the biggest inspirations for your music?
Our biggest inspiration in our music is how different we are; our clashing difference can still merge together and make a sense of cohesion and art which our music taste vastly reflects this music inspiration ranging from the Beatles, the Police, The Red-hot Chilli Peppers and 80s Rock and Roll. Like our Singer Xeno stated ” We can merge our emotions, experiences and talents into one place and thing, to make a testament of who we were and what we loved and believed in which again is what inspires and makes the Lords.”

What has the band got planned for 2026?
For 2026 we will hopefully be busking at Ventnor Fringe and Busking at Cowes Fringe and with high hopes of playing at Three Rivers Festival and making our regular appearances at the Jam nights at strings and the Blues club at the Anchor Inn but our most exciting project for this year is to have music recorded and ready to be released to streaming services!

Where can people find your work if they’d like to support you?
And of course, you can find us on Instagram which is called the_lords_official_ and Tik Tok _the_l0rds
