We are looking for an artist to create a window display at Department, the former Elizabeth Pack building on Cross Street, Ryde, that is currently being transformed into a brand new Arts Centre by ShadeMakers UK. Your work will be installed in Central Ryde and remain in situ for a week, including over New Carnival’s popular Merry & Bright – Festival of Light event, so it’s a great opportunity for your work to be seen by hundreds if not thousands of new people! If you are interested in a career as a stylist or visual merchandiser this could be your chance to show off your creative skills and build your portfolio.
New Carnival will be decorating the left-hand side of the building, but would like a local artist to design, create and install the small window display on the right-hand side. The area you have to work with will be viewed from the 1 metre x 2 metre window. New Carnival can supply any materials they have in stock, as well as advice and guidance, and £40 for any extra materials to help you realise your vision. A Christmas/ winter themed design is preferable but it can be broadly interpreted.
Practical info: To apply for this opportunity please tell us why you would like to take part, and a description of the kind of display you have in mind. It would also be helpful to have a rough sketch of your idea which you can attach using the “Choose File” button below.
Opportunity Date & Time: If selected you will have a meeting with New Carnival Director, Hannah Ray, on Monday 25th November at 2pm, where you can talk through the installation and any help you need. You can then install your piece at a later date to be confirmed.
