Ventnor Fringe are looking for volunteers to join their team as Box Office Assistants. This is a brilliant opportunity to gain valuable experience in a customer facing role, make new friends, and enjoy lots of shows for free in your downtime!
Ventnor Fringe is the Island’s largest arts festival, transforming the town with a whole host of boutique venues and pop-up bars. Running for 10 days between Friday 19th and Sunday 28th July, there’s over 100 different shows with a huge mix of theatre, comedy, music, circus, cabaret and exhibitions.
The Box Office team sell tickets at two locations: Ventnor Exchange and the Fringe Village Ticket Tent in Ventnor Park. This role involves selling tickets, helping recommend shows, answering audience questions about events such as show content or directions to venues. The role will involve learning how to use ticketing software to make bookings or amendments.
You’ll be talking to many different audience members in this role so it’s important that you have good people skills and can communicate clearly in order to ensure everyone has a great experience at the Fringe. There may be occasions where visitors have particular access needs, a complaint or other requests where you’ll be able to signpost to the relevant manager to assist.
As this is a customer service role, it will provide you with invaluable experience to be able to take on any similar sorts of roles in future. Alongside this you get to see how a festival works and be part of a wonderful team where you’re sure to meet new people and make new friends. This is a voluntary role, but Brave Island will cover your expenses at £50 per day, to cover your travel and food costs whilst volunteering at the festival and if requested a reference can be provided for future job applications.
