This is an exciting opportunity to join the Ventnor Fringe team on a work experience placement as a Production Assistant. A great way to gain new skills and insight working behind the scenes on a professional event along with other perks like getting to see lots of shows and meeting new friends as being part of a supportive team.
Ventnor Fringe is the Island’s largest arts festival, transforming the town with a whole host of different venues. Running for 10 days between Friday 19th July – Sunday 28th July, there’s over 100 different shows with a huge mix of music, theatre, comedy, circus, cabaret and exhibitions.
As a Production Assistant you will be supporting a Venue Manager to help run one of the venues at the festival. This will include helping shows during their get in and break, learning and operating some basic tech like lights and sound queues, meeting and greeting artists, and helping to facilitate the stewards. The stewards scan tickets for events, seat audience members, and make sure the show runs smoothly with no interruptions, so it’s important that they understand their role and rota. You may occasionally have to support with stewarding for sold out shows or if someone misses their shift.
This role will suit someone who can work well in a team, remain calm under pressure, has good people skills and can communicate clearly. This role with provide you with valuable hands on experience of festival and event production, alongside this you get to see how a festival works and be part of a wonderful team where you’re sure to meet new people and make new friends. This is a voluntarily position shadowing one of the festivals staff, but Brave Island will cover your expenses at £50 per day, to cover your travel and food costs whilst at the festival.
