We’re looking for two people to work with a group of artists creating a large scale mural in East Cowes. This is an exciting trainee position to be able to learn the practical skills involved with painting a mural and how a project like this comes together. The artwork is being produced on the Columbine Building in the shipyard in East Cowes.
You will be working on scaffolding up to 11m, must wear hard hats (provided), and must wear your own appropriate clothing – closed toe sturdy shoes, work wear suitable for paint and messy work. You will be required to undertake an online working at height safety course prior to starting the position, which takes roughly an hour to complete.
This is a paid position with a set fee of £500. You’ll be working six days between 17th – 30th June (approx three days a week), from 9am – 2pm. Please note that the days and times are subject to change as this is outdoor work so the weather affects working times, the job may also spill over into the first week of July if there has not been enough good weather during these weeks in June.
You don’t need to have any prior experience in mural painting, but it is helpful if you have experience working with paint. You’ll also need to have a keen attention to detail, and work well in a team. As this work is weather dependent, it’s helpful if you can be flexible with dates and times.
This project is being led by artist Alice Malia, you can see some updates on the project on her Instagram here.
