Want to know what goes into setting up a carnival parade? Do you have a passion for creative arts? We’ve linked up with New Carnival to bring you this VIP Liaison placement for the Isle of Wight Mardi Gras on the 6th July.

The Isle of Wight Mardi Gras is New Carnival’s flagship event and showcases the very best of children and young people’s carnival experience through learning, creating and performance. The event takes place on Saturday 6th July, with a day of activities for children and young people followed by the main carnival parade around Ryde!

New Carnival invite a number of ‘VIPs’ to the event, who are a variety of people they would like to come and enjoy the day. Your role will involve setting up the VIP tent, welcoming guests to the event and answering any questions they may have about New Carnival and the Parade. The VIPs will be there to watch a number of performances from local and visiting performers so you will also be working with the rest of the New Carnival team to ensure the programme runs smoothly and on time.

New Carnival will arrange for you to join them for a pre-event briefing to explain the role in more detail and answer any questions. This opportunity is perfect for anyone wanting to gain some events experience or learn more about how arts events work.

Practical Info: To apply for this opportunity please tell us why you’d like to be involved, as well as any previous experience you might’ve had. This opportunity is open to those aged 18+ and you will be paid £30 to cover your expenses.

Opportunity Date & Time: Saturday 6th July, 1pm – 4pm (exact times tbc).
