Submissions are now open for the final Brave Island Zine of the year! The zine shines a spotlight on the diverse creativity of young people living on the Isle of Wight, as well as giving you an opportunity to share your voice and views on anything.
The theme for this edition is Can You Hear Us? Interpret the theme however you like – whether it’s about making your voice heard, reflecting on how the Isle of Wight can sometimes feel left behind the rest of the country, or showcasing youth culture from the Island. Visual artwork can be loosely tied to the theme, with all forms of creativity welcome.
We chose this theme to tie into CAN YOU HEAR US?, a six-week celebration of creativity and culture taking place across every part of the Island, delivered by Creative Island.
You can submit anything that can be included on an A5 page, in colour or black & white. This could be:
– A piece of artwork
– Photography
– Poetry
– Creative Writing (eg a story)
– Articles (eg an opinion piece/column)
– Interviews
Or anything else you’d like to share! If you submit artwork or photography, this can be scanned in or submitted digitally. If you submit any writing, it can be up to a maximum of 400 words so it can be spread across a double page.
We will be hosting a special launch party for this Zine at the Brave Island Festival on 11th October. Submit your work now and be part of this exciting project!
