Are you a poet, spoken word artist or storyteller? Would you like the opportunity to perform on stage? We’re looking for a support act to perform a 5-10 minute opening slot before Rob Auton’s ‘The Crowd Show’ at Ventnor Exchange.
Rob Auton is an award winning writer, podcaster, and performer. He’s best known for his series of shows based on a specific subject which he has performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival every year since 2012, such as ‘The Time Show’ and ‘The Hair Show’. He’s picked up Dave’s Funniest Joke of the Fringe award and was also Glastonbury’s official poet in residence in 2014.
Rob Auton is also known for his daily podcast that he launched in 2020 where he reads some of his writings, over 366 episodes he reached 1.5million listeners and won a gold award at the British Podcast Awards.
If you have a spoken word or poetry piece, or even a short story, which you would like to perform to an audience then this is a great opportunity for you. You will open the show with a five to ten minute performance, and will be followed by Rob Auton performing ‘The Crowd Show’. Ventnor Exchange is an intimate 45 seat venue, so it’s an ideal space if this is your first time performing in front of an audience.
Practical info: To apply, please tell us why you would like this opportunity, and please leave an example of your work or links to where we can find some. This might be in the form of text or a video. Your performance should be up to ten minutes long.
Opportunity Date & Time: Friday 14th October, 8pm – 9.30pm.
