This could be our biggest opportunity to date! We’ve teamed up with the IW Creative Network to produce an exciting job opportunity open exclusively to Brave Island users to help you develop your creative practice.
We’re looking for a beautiful / thrilling / fun / intriguing / engaging outdoor art installation to be located in the tented festival village at Ventnor Fringe. This could be a sculpture, installation, performance, or interactive piece. We want something that captures people’s imaginations but we’re open to all sorts of ideas for what this could be!
The chosen idea will receive a bursary of £1,000 to make your idea a reality. This budget should be used to help cover your costs for materials, equipment, transportation and your time. You can apply as an individual or as a group, as long as the leading creative is aged 18-25 and signed up to Brave Island.
Ventnor Fringe is the Island’s biggest arts festival, which takes place from 21st – 30th July. You’ll have 7 weeks to work on your project if you’re selected to carry out the commission, ready for installation at the Fringe the week beginning 17th July. Alongside the commission you’ll receive support from Lexi Zelda Stevens, a professional mentor who curates the visual arts programme at Green Man Festival, who will check in with you at various points during the process to offer help and support.
As an extra bonus, we’ll also cover the membership fee for the selected artist to become a member of the Isle of Wight Creative Network which supports over 100 creative practitioners on the Isle of Wight through creative business support, mentoring, networking, online training and resources which you will then be able to access.
