The Bar & Record Shop Assistant is a new role created to support the existing Front of House staff. You will often be the first person our audiences and customers interact with and will need to create a welcoming, friendly environment that everyone can feel comfortable in.

You will learn how to make a wide range of drinks to a high standard, as well as how to operate our till, fulfill orders from our online shop and sell tickets using our box office software.
Ventnor Exchange is also a venue and active community space, and the Front of House team need to have a good knowledge of upcoming events and be able to answer audiences’ questions about these. We often host theatre, music and education groups and the assistant must be aware of these different groups and help to accommodate their needs such as changing the layout of the space.
You will learn about bar responsibilities, keeping the workspace clean and tidy at all times in line with food hygiene standards. You will help ensure the bar and record shop is stocked up with new products and notifying managers of orders that need to be made in good time. You will learn about Licencing Law and responsible bar management.
Essential skills, experience and qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about great customer service. This role would be perfect for an individual who enjoys a front of house role and wants to combine this with an interest in music and culture.
Prior experience in a retail or bar environment is preferable. You must be punctual, trustworthy and well presented as well as confident in a public facing role. You will have an openness and willingness to learn new skills in this specialist bar and record shop.
