Join Brave Island and two leading Isle of Wight Circus Artists in this FREE seven-week course in circus skills. You will have the opportunity to learn up to 10 different skills including everything from acrobatics to aerial hoop, three ball juggling to diabolo!


As you progress through the course you will improve your hand-eye coordination, strengthen your core muscles and pick up a new hobby just in time for the summer season. You will also have the opportunity to perform your new found skills in a special street theatre performance at Ventnor Fringe, the Isle of Wight’s largest arts festival, which is back for its 16th year this July!


The instructors for this course are Azaria Wood, founder of Wild Woods Workshops, a Circus academy based in Newport, and Kai Davies, event organiser and circus performer with over a decade of experience performing and teaching Circus. Azaria and Kai have performed at major festivals and events between them including the Isle of Wight Festival, Ventnor Fringe, Mucky Weekender, Fiesta of the Dead at Blackgang Chine, as well as the 2024 Olympic Team GB welcome home ceremony.
This isn’t just about learning tricks; it’s about boosting your fitness. Aerial skills build incredible upper body strength and core stability, while juggling improves hand-eye coordination and reaction time. You will also be discovering a fun new hobby, and gaining invaluable performance experience.
Opportunity Date & Time: Weekly on Tuesdays from 3rd June – 15th July, 4pm – 6pm.
Practical Info: This opportunity is open to those aged 14-25, you don’t need to have any previous experience to take part. The course will be held at The Bay CE Primary School on Winchester Park Road in Sandown, with the optional street performance at Ventnor Fringe on Tuesday 22nd July.
