Interested in painting murals, set design, or illustration? Here’s your chance to have an informal chat and gain some advice from Alice Malia, an artist with a wide variety of experience. Alice is currently working on creating public art murals with a focus on nature and conservation, she recently worked as a painter for Ink Dwell studios in California where she worked with a team painting some huge buildings and learnt lots of skills for creating public art in urban environments.
Alice trained in London in theatre set design, which she credits for giving her a multi-disciplinary and flexible approach to enable her to take on all sorts of narrative based projects. She has designed sets for theatre, dance, and site specific productions, and sometimes performed onstage, bringing her designs to life on national and international tours including in the Middle East and the USA, as well as taking work to the Edinburgh Festival.
Alongside her theatre work in London she also worked as an illustrator and for interior design companies on murals and decorating effects in both private properties and public settings. Currently living on the Island, public mural art has now become her focus, and Alice can discuss with you how to be adaptable in your work, how to choose the right projects, or how to get a public art project off the ground yourself.
