Calling all budding theatre makers and those interested in exploring new types of performance techniques. We’ve teamed up with the Brighton based writer/performer Seth Kriebel to offer an exciting workshop for Brave Island members. Sign up for free if you’d like to take part.
Seth will showcase his unique type of storytelling with ‘The Unbuilt Room’ which is a gaming-inspired mini performance where audience members choose the path the performance takes. Seth describes virtual spaces as the audience chooses his path. For example, does his character go through the large doors in front of him or knock first? Whichever choices you make change the narrative of the story so you experience a completely unique performance every time. It might appeal to fans of Dungeons and Dragons, point and click adventure games or those interested in immersive or site specific theatre.
The mini performance will be followed by a conversation/Q&A. This will give you a chance to ask any questions you may have about the show or the production/performance of immersive theatre.
Seth Kriebel will also be performing his larger full length show ‘The Death of King Arthur’ at Ventnor Exchange the night before, on Wednesday 9th November, 8-9.30pm, which uses similar techniques. If you are interested, we can organise free tickets for workshop participants so you can also discuss during this during the workshop the following day.
Practical info: You don’t have to attend the performance of The Death of King Arthur to attend the workshop. To apply, please tell us why you would like to take part. Please also tell us whether you would like to watch The Death of King Arthur as well as attend the workshop.
Opportunity Date & Time: The Unbuilt Room mini performance and workshop will take place on Thursday 10th November 11am – 1pm at Ventnor Exchange. The Death of King Arthur performance is on Wednesday 9th November from 8pm – 9.30pm at Ventnor Exchange.
