We’ve teamed up with Stitch Department to offer this free hand embroidery workshop for Brave Island members. Come along to learn a new skill, refresh an old one, or meet some new people. Perfect for anyone looking to learn how to customise their clothes and other textiles.
This workshop will be based on hand embroidery using different threads, textures and techniques. We will learn several hand embroidery stitches to get you started and then you can get creative! We will have a range of different colour threads and scrap fabrics to create your piece, so you don’t need to bring anything with you.
Stitch Department is a local clothing practice that works towards a more sustainable approach to the clothing and textile industry. They host sewing workshops and masterclasses teaching vital skills to encourage repairing, mending and to generally slow fashion down.
Practical Info: This workshop takes place at Stitch Department’s workshop on Cross Street in Ryde. We can help cover your bus fare if needed. To apply, please tell us why you would like to take part.
