Would you like to go behind the scenes of the largest theatre on the South Coast? We’ve arranged a FREE guided tour of Mayflower in Southampton, followed by a workshop learning all about the different types of careers in theatre!
This is your chance to learn about the history of this impressive building from their experienced tour guides, and see areas that would usually be closed to the public. After the tour, there will be a Creative Careers workshop, where you’ll learn what it takes to run a theatre, the various job roles involved in getting a show on the stage and what kind of career pathways there are into this industry.
The Mayflower Theatre is located in the heart of Southampton. It has a capacity of over 2,200 seats, and hosts some of the biggest touring shows from around the world including Wicked, The Lion King and right now, it is the hosting the award-winning musical Hamilton until the 26th April, as part of it’s UK tour.
Practical info: This opportunity is completely free including the travel. To apply, please tell us why you’d like to take part. You don’t need to have any prior experience, this could be the first time you’ve ever set foot in a theatre, or you could already be looking into a career in theatre.
You will need to get yourself to the Red Jet terminal in West Cowes, we will take the boat to Southampton, then walk for roughly 30 minutes to the theatre. You will also need to make your own way home from Cowes in the evening. We’ll meet at 8am at the Red Jet terminal in Cowes, and return on the 1.50pm boat from Southampton. If you need help covering travel costs to get to Cowes, such as bus fare, let us know and we can cover this for you.
After the workshop we will be having lunch at the theatre, so please bring a packed lunch with you on the day.
