Thinking about starting your own creative business? Or are you a creative business owner who would like some support? We’ve teamed up with Go for Growth, and put together a visit to a variety of local businesses to find out how they started, how they’re successful, and how they overcome challenges. You’ll get to speak to each business owner and gain advice and information about what it’s really like to run your own business.
The businesses we’ll be visiting are:
- Monkton Arts, a community based cafe and arts centre.
- Fieldwork Patterns, who sell sewing patterns for clothes and offer sewing workshops.
- Building 41, a co-working space where we’ll speak with NOSY Creative Agency.
- Isle of Wight Observer, a local newspaper, we’ll be meeting at the new co-working and pop-up space in Newport.
You can also receive support from a member of Go for Growth’s team, who you can speak with for an hour each week for four weeks after this opportunity. This is a great chance to ask questions on anything you need to know about starting your own business, whether you’re just considering it as an option, are in the process of starting a business, or are already running your own business and would benefit from some extra help.
You don’t have to be running a business already, or even have a fully formed plan for one, this opportunity is great for anyone interested in learning more about creative businesses, whatever stage you’re at.
Practical info: This opportunity starts and finishes in Ventnor, we have organised transport and lunch for the day so it won’t cost you anything. This opportunity is for those aged 18+. To apply, please tell us why you would like to take part.
Opportunity Date & Time: Wednesday 6th September, 9.30am – 6pm.
