Join us for a free trip across the water for a fun creative day out! We’re heading to Portsmouth to explore activities as part of The Point is Portsmouth, a project that’s been bringing a summer of bold, high-energy events to the city.
What we’ve got planned:
Luminarium: A large-scale immersive installation made up of illuminated domes, winding passages, colour, light and sound. Wander through glowing structures, shifting colours and soft, atmospheric spaces.
°Up: Violin vs Football: A high-energy outdoor performance combining dance, live music and freestyle football, reflecting Portsmouth’s identity as a proud football city. Part of Rawkus City Festival.
Hands-on Creative Sessions: We’ll be joining in some drop-in creative activities next to the Luminarium.
Meet the Producers: We’ll meet with some of the team at Crying Out Loud, the producers behind The Point is Portsmouth. They work with contemporary circus and physical theatre artists, to produce new work and connect artists. We’ll learn more about this project and their wider work.
Rawkus City Festival: We’ll explore the only free festival on the south coast dedicated to hip-hop dance and hip-hop theatre, celebrating street culture, creativity and community. By Funk Format, Hampshire’s leading street dance company.
This opportunity is great for anyone looking to spend their Sunday doing something a bit different from what’s usually available on the Island!
Practical info: This opportunity is completely free, including ferry travel. To apply, please tell us why you would like to take part. For this opportunity you will need to make your own way to Ryde Pier Head, we’ll catch the 10.45am Wightlink boat to Portsmouth.
