Young Artist Award is Back for 2025
The Isle of Wight Young Artist Award is a staple of the Brave Island calendar, now in it’s 4th year, this opportunity gives you the chance to have your artwork displayed in a professional exhibition, this year, we’re returning to the Clayden Gallery at Quay Arts!
Your artwork can be in any medium, from paintings to sculpture, or even videos! The panel of judges from Brave Island and Quay Arts will invite the shortlisted entrants to a special launch event, where the overall winner will be announced.

Freelance Events Assistant Roles with Artswork
Artswork are looking for freelance Events Assistants to support their Young Cultural Changemakers programme, the role involves working alongside an experienced producer and with artists to deliver occasional workshops with groups of young people who may be aged from 5 up to 19 years old.
This could be a great opportunity for anyone looking to build on their experience in arts events, particularly if you have an interest in working with young people.

Paid Work Placement with Creative Island
Brave Island are very excited to have once again teamed up with Creative Island! You only have a few days left to apply for this exciting six-month work placement, where you’ll join the Creative Island team, supporting the delivery of their exciting digital heritage initiative Curators’ Choice.
This opportunity is one of many paid work experience roles from Brave Island, as part of a multi-year project to help young people from the Isle of Wight gain work experience in the Arts and Culture industries.

£5,000 Art Commission at Sandown Station
Artswork are seeking a local artist to create a piece or series of Artworks for Sandown Station. The commission, funded by South Western Railway aims to celebrate 200 years of railway history and reflect on its impact on the local community and environment.
If successful, you will work with students from LionHeart school to co-create the artwork. Up to £5,000 is available for this project, to cover your time, materials, installation costs, travel, etc.

Express Your Ideas for Sandown’s Future with Creativity!
Boojum & Snark, the creative space on Sandown High Street, will host two free drop-in newsletter workshops this month, on Friday 8th and Friday 29th August, from 11am to 5pm. The sessions will be led by artist and printmaker Tommy Brentnall.
Get involved in making and printing a newsletter for a future Sandown, simply drop in at any time to add your thoughts, then at 4pm the newsletter will be compiled and printed on the Boojum Risograph printer.
