Isle of Wight National Landscape and Brave Island are offering the chance to work as a photographer’s assistant for highly regarded Island photographer Maria Bell on an upcoming project. Published in The Guardian, The Observer, Conde Nast Traveller, and National Geographic with a career spanning the last decade as a commercial and editorial photographer, Maria’s artistic work specialises in portraiture, craft and the natural environment.
Three artists have been commissioned to develop work in response to different locations on the Island in collaboration with young people – Appuldurcombe House, Compton Bay and St Catherine’s Oratory. These commissions are part of CAN YOU HEAR US?, an Island wide celebration of creativity and culture taking place this autumn. You will assist Maria to document the artists’ work as it develops, and capture the celebration event.
