We’ve organised a special visit to Department, an exciting new cultural venue in the heart of Ryde. We’ll have a guided tour of the space when we arrive, and then watch a brand new show in their theatre! This venue has been developed as part of a £2.4million project, and will be hosting all sorts of events, theatre shows, classes and workshops for you to get involved with.
Department is a brand new creative space on Cross Street in Ryde, opening on 13th March. There is a community workshop space, artist studios, exhibition space, theatre, dance studio and cinema, and a recording studio for musicians and podcasters. There is also a cafe/bar and a shop.
We’ll be watching Ubu: King of the Isle of Wight, a new show from Horse Box Theatre. Your ticket is on us! Prepare for total theatrical chaos as Horse Box Theatre unleashes a riotous, Isle of Wight-inspired twist on Alfred Jarry’s anarchic masterpiece Ubu Roi! This delirious, no-holds-barred parody of Macbeth cranks ambition and absurdity to the max, plunging the grotesque and power-hungry Mr & Mrs Ubu into a whirlwind of corruption, carnage, and clumsy coups.
This is a great opportunity to explore this exciting new venue and hear about all the facilities and events they have to offer. Perfect for anyone wanting a free fun night out of the house, to meet some new people, and to see one of the first events in this exciting new venue!
Practical info: To apply, please tell us why you would like to take part. This opportunity takes place at Department in Ryde, you’ll need to make your own way there and back but your ticket for the show is on us.
Opportunity Date & Time: Thursday 20th March, 7pm – 9.30pm.
