We have an exciting trip planned to visit the Centre for Creative and Immersive Extended Reality (CCIXR) in Portsmouth! This is the UK’s first purpose-built facility to bring together a whole suite of the very latest extended reality (XR) technologies under one roof.
When you hear the term XR (extended reality), you might think of video games such as those using a VR headset (virtual reality), or like Pokémon Go as an example of AR (augmented reality). This technology also has a whole host of other uses across the creative industries, and even in manufacturing and medical fields!
The centre aims to help more people understand extended reality, providing training and access to these technologies which would usually be very expensive or hard to access. We’ll be exploring the centre including the motion capture studio, VR and simulation technology, and sound and video studios.
This opportunity is great for anyone interested in gaming, app design, or software engineering. Or you might just be interested in exploring a state of the art tech centre! We’ll be sharing this trip with the Bay Youth Project so it’s a great chance for an interesting day out with new people.
