We’re thrilled to announce the Brave Island Festival, a celebration of the incredible creativity of Young people on the Isle of Wight!
The FREE event will take place on Saturday 10th October at Sandham Gardens in Sandown. The Festival itself will be in and around The Ventnor Exchange Arena, the Isle of Wight’s very own Big Top, a beautiful Pink and white circus tent which debuted at Ventnor Fringe last year. For the festival it will be home to our two headline events: SHOWCASE and ZINE LAUNCH.
SHOWCASE
Showcase brings together several Isle of Wight youth performing arts organisations for a mixed bill event in the Arena. Highlighting the varied performing arts training and creative work taking place across the Island.
The event will feature young local artists presenting work across theatre, acting, and dance. The lineup includes performances from Apollo Youth Theatre, StoneCrabs, TheatreTrain and The Bull Ring Theatre. You can expect previews of upcoming productions, musical theatre mashups, original music and more!
ZINE LAUNCH – CAN YOU HEAR US?
In the evening we’ll celebrate Volume 4 of the Brave Island Zine with an extra special launch party! You can expect a line-up of young bands, musicians, poets and other artists performing on the Arena stage. We’ll also open up the floor for YOU to get involved and show off your own art too. Think open mic but bigger!
Not a fan of being in the spotlight? Our Zine submissions are open until the 6th September so you still have time to get your art, poetry, photography, writing or other work in print!

GET INVOLVED
Got an idea for something you’d like to see at the first Brave Island Festival? We’re offering commissions of £150 to young people aged 14-25 to create, host, or stage whatever you want to see!
Interested in pursuing a career backstage at events or production? We’re recruiting two production assistants to assist our technical team in the arena over two weekends as part of the wider Arena tour. This could include greetings artists, helping shows prepare to go live, or even working on the sound and light desk for performances.
